The stand-out theme from today's second waaz of Ashara Mubaraka of 1424H was "Niyyatul Mumine ablagho min amalehi" ("A Mumin's niyyat (intention) is more far-reaching than his action.") Man, the most supreme form of creation was created of the earth, there are billions of humans on earth today yet we Mumineen are distinct from them. Humanity at large is created of the earth and remain of the earth where as we are created of the earth but bound for the heavens. Heaven awaits a Mumin's arrival in joyful expectation just as a father would await the return of a child. If a person performs ritual worship for his entire life to the extent that his body falls to pieces in the most sacred piece of earth - that which lies between Hajre Aswad and Maqaame Ibrahim - and has no love for Ahle Bayt (a.s.)then his worship is worth nothing. It requires the love of Ahle Bayt, those of Allah's Bayt (Baytullah), to have it accepted. It is a natural part of life that if you have affection or love for someone then you will have love and affection for his family as well. Yet, in Islam its senior figures chose to teach that the Nabi is distinct and his family are separate. Aqamola (tus) exemplified how a Mumin's niyyat is greater than his action through the lives of Panjatan Paak (a.s.).

Firstly Rasulallah SAW - he married Molana Ali AS to Molatena Fatema AS - that was an act in itself of great consequence but the niyyat behind it was even greater - the propogation of the zikr of Molana Ali and the continuance of imaamat in his progeny.

Molana Ali's niyyat was greater than his action. His action was to fight, body and soul, to establish Islam over the first 23 years of his life (in Rasulallah's SAW lifetime) his niyyat being to establish that Aimmat are truly the progeny of Rasulallah. In the next 26 years, the same Molana Ali AS who had established Islam with use of the sword - sheathed that sword in order to protect Islam. Even as he sat back he continued the act of nurturing imaan and thousands of Shia were readied. His niyyat was continued and was greater than the act.

Molatena Fatema's AS act was to perform the khidmat of Molana Ali AS - her niyyat was to prepare Imams Hasan AS and Husain AS for imaamat. In this context her last actions were to bathe, clothe and prepare food for her beloved sons. Even as they enjoyed this shafaqat they both felt the grief of her impending departure which they had realized through ilhaam inspite of their tender years.

Imam Hasan (a.s) made peace with Muawiya. It was an act that confused many loyal Shia including Jabir bin Abdillah. Imam Hasan AS called for Rasulallah to appear before Jabir and tell him in person that he should not doubt the actions of his grandson. Imam Hasan's niyyat was to hand over the imaamat to Imam Husain AS as it was Imam Husain's privilege to stand in jihaad. All the while Imam Hasan continued to nurture the Dawat and the Dawat flourished to the dismay of Muawiya. Finally Muawiya sought to end it by poisoning Imam Hasan.

Imam Husain's niyyat was more far reaching than his act. Husain was called at night by the governor of Medina to swear allegiance to Yazid. Husain arrived armed and demanded to know why he had been called at night. Imam Husain argued that he should be called alongwith all the other seniors and not try to to humiliate him in this way. Molana Husain AS declared that he would not give allegiance - only the sword and the governor backed down. That night Molana Husain left for Makkah. As other people came for Haj Imam Husain took the ehraam. He came to know that plans were afoot to capture him at Arafah and kill him in captivity and he would not have this. Imam Husain released the ehram after Umrah and left on the 8th of Zilhaj for Karbala. Imam Husain arrived in Karbala where the shohadaa were slain one by one until his own shahadat. In all his actions, in his final sajda and dua, Imam Husain's niyyat was for the eternal continuance of imaamat in his progeny.

The continuance of Imam Husain's zikr is found in the life of our beloved Aqamola TUS - may Allah taala grant him eternal sehat and aafiayt - Ameen.
