Today morning, on the eve of the New Millennium the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Hon. Mr. Chagan Bhujbal performed the grand opening of Burhani Expo 2001.

Mukaser-e-Dawat Syedi Husain Bhaisaheb Husamuddin graciously presided over the function held in the open-air auditorium, which preceded the opening ceremony.

More than 200 Dawoodi Bohra businesses are participating in this first of its kind International Trade & Industrial Fair "Burhani Expo 2001" organized jointly by Anjuman - e - Shiate-Ali and Al Jame’atus Saifiyatul Markaziyah to commemorate the 89th Milad-e-Maimoon of Huzurala Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin TUS.

The Exhibition will remain open for public from 1 January until 3 January 2001.

On arrival of Hon.Deputy Chief Minister, the function began with the Tilawat-e-Qur’an-e-Majid by Jnb.Husain Bhaisaheb bin Shahzada Aali Qadr Syedi Mufaddal Bhaisaheb Saifuddin.

It was followed by welcome speech by Shk.Yusufbhai Chawala, Hon. General Sec. Anjuamn-e-Shiat-e-Ali. He also read out the goodwill statement of Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Guest of Honour and other luminaries invited on this occasion were felicitated with bouquets of flowers.

Hon. Deputy Chief Minister delivered a very impressive speech wherein he praised Huzurala TUS for guiding the community in the field of Trade and Commerce and also Industries. He also appreciated Aqa Maula TUS’s efforts for nurturing peace and harmony in world community. He categorically mentioned the unique dress code of the community and praised the discipline maintained by the society. He invited the Bohra community to actively participate in the policy of globalisation practised by Govt. of Maharashtra and India and ready themselves to take on the challenges created by the new scenario of international free trade.

There after, Huzurala TUS addressed the gathering of mumineen via telephone, which was broadcasted on the public address system. In the Kalemaat Nooraniya after Hamd and Shukr Huzurala TUS farmayu,

This is the first time that such an exhibition is being organized in Mumbai on International Level. The aim is to accelerate the growth in Trade, Commerce and Industries. Besides, Seminar will also be held during the expo period.

Our Doat Kiram directed us to do business and for that in past many munineen migrated too various parts of the world. They also directed us to remain faithful to the country wherein we reside and participate in its growth and welfare of the country and communities at large.

Huzurala TUS emphasized to be a business minded person and not be a service minded. One should also look forward to be an industrialist. There should be some plans and schemes for developing home industries for mumenaat baheno, wherein they can show their craftsmanship apart from attending their domestic responsibilities.

A mumin should always have a habit of being a self sufficient and independent person. Today mumineen is a renouned businessman in every country. But mumineen should always be very precautious in business that it should be free from Riba and according to Shariat-e-Mohammedi.

Huzurala TUS directed mumineen to be knowledgeable person in computer science and apply it in their business activity. A mumin should be an illustrative entrepreneur who not only looks for his own benefits but also for the benefit of the community and society and country at large.

Huzurala TUS expressed his wish that he also could come, see the exhibition, and participate in the function. But said that, My Doa is always with you.

Aqa Maula TUS prayed for the prosperity of the mumineen, nation and the world at large.

After Wazaefuna and National Anthem Hon Deputy Chief Minister performed the Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition and took a tour of the expo hall which engaged him for nearly two hours.

Mukaser-e-Dawat and Saadat Kiram and guests also visited the various stalls and took keen interest in items displayed and acquainted themselves with their business activities.

Apart from India, mumineen businessmen from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Kenya, Tanzania, Egypt, Canada, UAE and other countries have participated in Burhani Expo 2001.
